If there is one thing I love doing, it is flying my DJI Mavic Pro around tropical places and Belize was a great one to fly in. It is a beautiful city full of great people and I would love to get back over there again one day. After taking the Belize City Ferry 3 times, I decided to fly back to make my United connecting flight to Houston. This Cessna Caravan was the smallest plane I've ever flown in, seating about 12 passengers. Once airborne, the view was stunning, as we flew over the Barrier Reef System and its crystal clear waters. I highly recommend taking Tropic Air to the mainland when vising San Pedro, not only is it a time saver, it's also an aerial tour of the whole region and it's only slightly more expensive than the ferry since you don't need to cab back and forth.
To get from Punta Gorda to Belize City and to Caye Caulker Island, we flew on a small Cessna Caravan plane, operated by Maya Island Air - Here are videos from some of our flights, no security required! :), the flight duration 1 hour. Punta Gorda (or PG as it's known) is a slightly ramshackle coastal settlement down in the Deep South of Toledo. Once known to travelers mainly as a port to get the boat across to Guatemala, it's increasingly attracting visitors looking to chill out in the south and as a base for exploring surrounding Maya villages and culture, and the remote Southern Cayes. PG spreads along the Gulf of Honduras, its compact downtown area stretching lazily for several blocks just in from the coast. The town center is a triangular park with a distinctive blue-and-white clock...
To get from Belize City to Placencia and back, we flew on a small Cessna Caravan plane, operated by Maya Island Air - Here are videos from some of our flights. I talked to the pilot beforehand, and got him to allow me to sit in the co-pilots seat. I (unfortunately) didn't get to actually fly the plane, but the pilot did give me a good rundown of all the flight controls while we were waiting to pick up passengers in Dangriga.
